Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jannah Marriage
Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jannah Marriage
Marriage:
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, married Emibai Jinnah in 1892 when he was just 16 years old, and Emibai was around 14. It was an arranged marriage, typical of the time and cultural context. However, their marriage was short-lived as Emibai passed away in 1893 while Jinnah was in London for his studies.
Later in life, Jinnah married Rattanbai Petit (known as Ruttie Jinnah), the daughter of a wealthy Parsi businessman, Sir Dinshaw Petit. Their marriage, solemnized in 1918, was a love match and faced significant societal and familial opposition, primarily because Ruttie converted to Islam and the couple came from different religious backgrounds. Ruttie was 24 years younger than Jinnah.
Despite their love, their relationship grew strained over time due to differences in temperament and Jinnah's focus on his political career. Ruttie tragically passed away in 1929 at the age of 29, leaving Jinnah deeply affected by her death. This loss had a profound impact on Jinnah, and he did not marry again.
